It initially costs more to buy a laser printer, but over the lifetime of the printer, it costs 10 times less to print with a laser than it does with an inkjet.

Even color laser printers are affordable. Look for the occasional deal on HP or Brother laser printers at Computer Geeks or Newegg.

If your network utilizes a router, look for a “network” laser printer (has an internal Ethernet port) and it can be plugged directly into the router and used by any computer on your network, either wired or wireless.

The nice thing about a printer connected to the router via an Ethernet cable is that the printer is not connected to any particular computer so it’s not necessary to leave a computer on to use the printer.
